Based on the personal wartime experiences of journalist Mark Boal (who adapted his experiences with a bomb squad into a fact-based, yet fictional story)

An intelligent, well made film though we didn't find it quite as compelling a story as the SAG apparently did in awarding it best picture (I would have chosen Avatar which suffered from being a box office success unlike Hurt Locker which benefitted from being a completely unknown film). . . .

Maybe a little too realistice in the sense that you get frustrated and get caught up in the same anxiety that the characters do. In this type of war, it is difficult to identify the enemy. The characters constantly have to be on their toes and there is a bit of friction between them. . . .

very intense and more violent than I expected. actually, not as good as I was hoping seeing how it won so many awards. not a Saving Private Ryan or anything, but I did sit through the whole movie. felt low budget in several places.
